Are waterless urinals difficult to install?

No, not at all. The installation process is very similar to an ordinary installation. The hassle is much reduced as no water is required. They are a good way of regulating use of water in the toilets. They support green plumbing. But they are a little difficult to maintain. You have to flush the urinal after every few weeks. It requires sanitary cleaning daily. Otherwise the sealing liquid would turn rancid. It can also lead to mineral build-up on the pipe walls. The sealing liquid needs to be refilled after every flushing.
